Culminating Activity (Student Output)
Practice Scenario: Checking Availability
Students use time and day of the week or specific day to ask someone’s availability.

This activity focuses on planning a meeting for a final project, applying your knowledge of numbers, dates, and time expressions.
Task: Finding Time to Meet
- You will be paired with a partner in a breakout room.
- Decide who will use Calendar A and Calendar B. (Embed Calendar A and Calendar B images from Weebly here. Ensure they are clear.)
- Your task is to find out (by asking questions) the best time to meet to work on a school project.
- You have to meet a minimum of 2 hours and must be between 8am-6pm.
Reporting to the Class:
Share your meeting details with the class.
- Kailan kayo magkikita? (When will you guys meet?)
- Example: We will meet on Sabado (Saturday), mula (from) a la una (1:00 PM) hanggang (until) a las tres (3:00 PM) ng hapon (in the afternoon).
Adding a Place:
- We will meet on Sabado, ikalabing-apat ng Setyembre nang a las singko y medya ng hapon sa Ala Moana Starbucks. (We will meet on Saturday, September 14th at 5:30 PM at Ala Moana Starbucks.)
- Magkikita kami sa Sabado, ikalabing-apat ng Setyembre nang a las singko y medya ng hapon sa Ala Moana Starbucks. (We will meet on Saturday, September 14th at 5:30 PM at Ala Moana Starbucks.)
Take note on what markers are used:
- Libre ka ba bukas?
- Libre ka ba sa Martes?
- Libre ka ba nang a las kuwatro?
- Hanggang (until) Hang – gang
Example:
- We will meet nang a las nuwebe hanggang a las dies ng umaga sa laybrari.
- Magkikita kami nang a las nuwebe hanggang a las dies ng umaga sa laybrari.
Enrichment Activity (Optional)
- Interview someone and ask about their birthday, then ask about other members of their family or family and friends. (Goal: to practice asking and reporting answers)
- Call a friend or family member and schedule a time to meet for coffee! Report to the class what day, time, and location of your meeting. Report to the class what day or time they are NOT available (practice negation).
Ideally, both activities should be done in Filipino. If student is unable to find Filipino speaker, then student can report to class or audio record themselves on what they learned. Student can gather answers using their first language (L1).
